Understanding the critical technical transition from conventional gas-discharge mercury lamps to high-efficiency, solid-state LED-UV modules.
Traditional systems rely on medium-pressure mercury lamps that cover a wide spectrum. While powerful, they emit heat (IR radiation) and ozone. Our specialized LED-UV systems deliver precise, narrow-band wavelengths (385nm, 395nm, or 405nm) focused specifically on photopolymerization, omitting heat radiation and minimizing substrate warping.
Sustainability is shifting from a policy choice to an operations requirement. Our LED technology cuts electrical draw by up to 75% relative to mercury-vapor drying units. Instant-on capabilities remove standard pre-heating times, saving hours of idle energy usage and streamlining throughput.
For operations dealing with heat-sensitive materials (such as thin PE/BOPP films in flexo food packaging), traditional dryers can distort film webs. Yaguang’s liquid-cooled LED bars isolate optical emission from heat transference, protecting materials from thermal deformation.
A proven track record of durability, compatibility, and custom design deployment across world-class printing facilities.
Our installations span major industrial territories, supporting equipment from major press OEMs like Heidelberg, KBA, Manroland, Komori, Mitsubishi, and Ryobi. In the sheet-fed metal decorating niche, our high-output systems run alongside specialized printers such as Fuji, Queley, and Ruiyuan.

Yaguang operates manufacturing facilities optimized for system assembly, optical alignment, and high-voltage electrical testing. Every production module we design undergoes continuous operations testing under simulated working loads to ensure thermal safety and output stability before shipment.
Through our dedicated service centers in Shanghai, Tianjin, and Zhejiang, we maintain a rapid supply chain for replacement parts, spare quartz sleeves, high-output mercury lamps, ballast units, and specialized LED reflectors. Our engineers collaborate directly with plant operators to perform structural evaluations, ensuring retrofitted UV heads align with existing press profiles.
By keeping core processes in-house, we control mechanical tolerances, manage electrical shielding, and maintain pricing advantages that support both mid-sized printing shops and multinational packaging plants.
How the integration of supply chains, advanced R&D, and engineering agility creates unique advantages for global buyers.
Located in Dongguan, our team taps into a massive manufacturing hub. By sourcing high-grade components like premium quartz glass, structural metals, and robust electronics locally, we optimize component lead times and lower material costs for our clients.
We avoid one-size-fits-all manufacturing. Our engineering department specializes in custom builds, tailoring mechanical fixtures, shutter layouts, electrical controls, and cooling systems to fit your specific printing press model.
Yaguang guarantees compliance with Western quality expectations. Our designs are CE certified, meeting strict safety guidelines for electrical insulation, shielding against UV leaks, ozone ventilation, and thermal shutdown protections.
From high-volume offset packaging lines to delicate thin-film flexo processing, discover how Yaguang engineers custom systems for specific production needs.
Commercial offset printing demands fast drying at high run speeds. Traditional air-drying processes limit productivity and require dry powders that can affect surface finish. Our custom offset UV curing modules sit directly in the delivery and inter-deck stations. Running high-intensity mercury lamps or LED-UV arrays, they instantly dry inks at speeds up to 18,000 sheets per hour. This enables immediate double-sided printing and fast post-press processing like cutting and folding.
Flexo printing is common in the label and flexible packaging sectors, often using heat-sensitive plastic webs (e.g., PE, BOPP, PVC). Standard UV systems generate significant heat, risking material shrinkage or web breaks. Our liquid-cooled LED-UV curing heads provide targeted 395nm light directly to the ink layer without transferring heat to the substrate. Compact lampheads fit easily into narrow-web press arches, ensuring stable registration and high print quality.
Printing on metal sheets for aerosol cans, bottle caps, and tin containers requires strong ink adhesion and chemical resistance. Yaguang’s high-power curing systems deliver the deep-curing performance needed for thick varnishes and white base coats. Built with advanced focus reflectors, they focus light energy directly on the metal sheet surface, maintaining excellent adhesion and gloss even during high-temperature post-curing baking.
Beyond printing, modern curing technology is key for industrial coatings. Our systems are used to cure protective topcoats, clear varnishes, and functional layers on wood panels, plastics, and automotive parts. By configuring systems with different lamp styles (such as mercury, gallium-doped, or iron-doped), we ensure complete curing of both surface layers and deep coatings.
Direct technical answers from our engineering division regarding system performance, installation, and optimization.
Air-cooled LED-UV systems use integrated fans to dissipate heat from the LED chips. They are compact, easy to install, and work well for light to medium curing tasks on narrow webs. Water-cooled systems use a closed-loop chiller to pump water directly through the cooling block behind the LEDs. This setup handles higher heat loads, allowing the LEDs to run at higher power levels (16-24 W/cm²) and extend their operating life. Water cooling is ideal for high-speed, wide-web presses and cleanroom environments where fan air flow needs to be minimized.
We specialize in retrofitting legacy offset, flexo, and gravure presses. Our engineers design custom mounting brackets, adjust the lamphead size to fit the press layout, and build interface modules that connect with your machine’s control systems. This allows the UV lamps to sync automatically with the press operations (e.g., turning on only when the press is running and shuttering or dimming during stops), preventing heat build-up and ensuring safe operation.
Standard mercury lamps emit light primarily in the shortwave UV-C spectrum (250-260nm), which is ideal for surface curing. Adding metal halides like gallium or iron shifts the lamp's output toward longer wavelengths (350-450nm). Gallium-doped lamps (output peak around 403-417nm) are excellent for curing deep layers of white inks and base coatings. Iron-doped lamps (output peak around 380nm) work well for curing thick varnishes and laminating adhesives, ensuring solid adhesion and thorough drying.
Switching to LED-UV reduces power consumption by 50% to 75% because LEDs only use energy when active (instant on/off). Traditional mercury lamps require a warm-up period and run in standby mode, which consumes power even when the press is idle. Additionally, LED-UV chips last 20,000+ hours, compared to 1,000 to 1,500 hours for standard mercury lamps. This reduces lamp replacement costs, limits maintenance downtime, and eliminates the costs associated with ozone extraction and mercury disposal.
We prioritize safety by integrating multiple protective features. These include light-blocking shields to prevent direct exposure to UV light, thermal sensors that shut down the system if temperatures exceed safe limits, and airflow sensors for air-cooled models. Our systems also feature mechanical or pneumatic shutters that close when the press stops, along with safety interlocks that shut off power if light shields are opened or cooling water flow is interrupted.
Complete your production line with high-output mercury lamp drying systems, specialty replacement components, and customized LED integrations.
